Installation of the Waitakere Stadium Grandstand roofing steelwork.

Challenges:

The Steelwork & concrete bleachers needed to be placed at the same time, good planning was essential to the success of the project.

Canam, the main contractor, built a roadway parallel to the roofline for a 100-tonne crawler crane. This meant the bleachers and the roof, including a series of 6-tonne cantilever rafters 33m long, could be built simultaneously, section-by-section.
